Welcome to the Town-Green Foundation

Creating a template for sustainable communities across the country.

The Town-Green Foundation (TGF) has created a program to comprehensively address climate change at local levels, through a process called the Sustainable Community Plans (SCP). A SCP consists of a multi-day Charrette process to produce a comprehensively sustainable plan that incorporates Smart Growth/New Urbanist principles and green technological, economic, and ecological tools.

Targeting deserving cities, a Sustainable Community Plan can:

  1. significantly reduce the community’s carbon footprint and reliance on non-renewables;
  2. improve the community’s ability to anticipate and adapt to economic, environmental, and social changes;
  3. help forge a community-authored plan customized for their specific context, wants, needs, and capacities.

The Plans will be organized and managed by Town-Green, an urban design and planning firm with a focus on sustainability, and will be sponsored by public/private partnerships that includes participating local jurisdictions, the non-profit National Charrette Institute, Place Matters, and other non-profit and private firms.

Send an email to Steve Coyle to learn more about how you or your firm can participate in this program.
